A familiar is a non-humanoid Instance embodying an Infocom Agent. Initially developed as children's toys, as IAs became more useful and widespread they have become more commonly used in many locations. The term "familiar" was coined by Alejandro Florentin who worked on models for life coaching and protecting Earth students moving to Mars.
